As a kid in the 60's, I watched an old b&w movie on TV with my parents. The plot featured a woman named Isabel (Isabelle?) who was a wheelchair-bound sculptor. She was rich and lived in a mansion with her younger, handsome husband and her attractive nurse. Of course, the husband and nurse fall in love and plot to kill Isabel. They wind up pushing her down the elevator shaft. When they go down to retrieve her body, they discover that it's gone. (gasp!) Much creepiness ensues. At the end of the movie, we find out that Isabel is alive and she had only been pretending to be dependent on the wheelchair. The police arrest husband and nurse.

My parents don't remember this movie at all and it's become a family joke that I've imagined the whole thing. I've been looking for vindication for YEARS. Can anyone help?

I remember this movie from my childhood as well. I watched it with my family and was very scared of Isabelle in the wheelchair. I thought it might be "Scream of Fear" but I don't think it is because the woman in the wheelchair is named Penny. I hope I find this movie one day!
