Over the years, kids have been treated to many different Christmas Films and Television Specials, and this is a look at the Best Christmas Cartoons of All Time.

The holiday season has always brought new and exciting Christmas films both geared towards a theatrical audience as well as a television audience, and among the best have been cartoons intended for the enjoyment of children everywhere. This is a list of 10 best Christmas Cartoons of all time, compiled from the history of film and television, and drawing from many different genres along the way. The one thing that they all have in common, are that they are timeless Christmas favorites enjoyed by many fans, and have made this list because they truly are the best.

The 10 Best Christmas Cartoons of All Time

1. A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) -- The classic tale of the Peanuts gang learning the true meaning of Christmas. One of the originals by creator Charles Schulz; with Charlie Brown and Snoopy. One of the best of all time, but could seem a little dated.

2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966) -- The original special, based on the famous Dr. Suess book about the joy of Christmas and the exploits of "The Grinch". Much better than the re-make, and quite good still to this day.

3. Frosty the Snowman (1969) -- One winter, a snowman is brought to life, and he shows the kids in town the importance of honesty and the Christmas spirit; all with a great theme song. It's hard not to sing along with the film.

4. A Garfield Christmas Special (1987) -- The lasagna loving cat, his dog pal Odie and owner Jon travel to meet the family for an "old fashioned Christmas". What transpires is quite funny for a cat out of the big city.

5. Shrek the Halls (2007) -- A very new member to the list, all of the stars from Shrek return to show the true meaning of Christmas through a lot of brand new humor and the familiar characters from the three films.

6. The Simpson's Christmas Special (1991) -- The episode (later released on its own) that made the show, combining a lot of humor with a great theme, and really presenting a special that has stood the test of time. Though it was only the first of many Christmas episodes, this one now stands alone.

7. A Flintstone Christmas (1977) -- Fred and Barney have to step in to cover for Santa, and the begrudging replacement Santa learns a great lesson along the way. Funny and great for the whole family.

8. A Muppet Family Christmas (1987) -- It's not quite a cartoon, but it IS cartoonish, and gave the Muppet characters a great chance to be funny and sentimental at the same time. It's a true Muppets classic.

9. Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983) -- Disney's take on the classic Dickens classic, done with all of the famous characters; including Mickey, Goofy, and Donald. Lot's of humor for both the kids and adults who watch.

10. Annabelle's Wish (1997) -- It's a charming and magical film about a reindeer born on Christmas Eve, and her goal to one day convince Santa to let her fly on Christmas Day. Quite touching and sentimental.
